The recent crisis will certainly change the behaviour of central banks for the long term. Before the crisis, they controlled interest rates in the very short term and made sure to remain credible in case of inflationary shocks by reacting very quickly. Since the crisis, they have pursued unconventional policies, which now requires that they provide solutions to problems that did not exist before the crisis.
